Women Friendly Initiative (WFI) is proud to announce the successful completion of the Sustainable Mechanism for Improving Livelihoods & Household Empowerment (SMILE) project in Kuje Area Council. This project was implemented in partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) from January 2016 to August 2018.
Project Achievements
- Targeted Support: We provided care and support services to vulnerable children and their households, with targets of:
- 1,500 vulnerable children and 375 caregivers in the first year
- 2,500 vulnerable children and 625 caregivers in April 2017, identified by 40 community volunteers
- 2,768 vulnerable children and 923 caregivers in Gwagwalada Area Council, enrolled by 46 community volunteers
- Graduation Criteria: Beneficiaries were graduated out of the project based on criteria such as:
- Household stability
- VC safety
- Health of the VC and caregiver
- VC older than 5 years enrolled in school
- VC older than 5 years enrolled in school
- Demonstrable reduction in household vulnerability
- Continuum of Care: Our six plus one service components ensured a comprehensive approach to supporting vulnerable children and their households
Project Impact
Through the SMILE project, we have made a significant impact in the lives of vulnerable children and their households in Kuje Area Council. The project’s success is a testament to the effectiveness of our partnership with CRS and the dedication of our team.
