This is a one (1) year ongoing Project with funding support from British Council – Agents for Citizens Transformation. It is committed to building educational institutions’ capacity to respond to GBV and substance abuse concerns in innovative and sustainable ways, employing an integrated preventive and response approach. The following accomplishments have been documented since the program’s inception: 24 health care providers selected from public and private referral facilities have been trained, armed with Job-aid for Adolescent and Youth Friendly Services and functional; 2 CSOs participated in two sessions of 1-day organizational capacity development; 6 CSOs trained on GBV and drug abuse prevention and response; a written approval from the Universal Basic Education Board was obtained to work with public schools in Kuje and Gwagwalada Area Councils. 60 school-based administration Responders from 20 schools in the Gwagwalada and Kuje Area Councils were educated on how to identify and respond to drug abuse and GBV cases; A total of 60 well-known student-leaders received training in drug abuse and GBV case identification, response, and peer influence. 30 Health and Well-Being student Advocates Against Drugs and GBV emerged, a viable social media platform was set up to boost communication, and a copy of the referral and contact directory of GBV and Drug abuse responders was successfully developed.
