Women Friendly Initiative is building stakeholders’ support and capacity for the implementation of National Strategic Plan of Action for Nutrition (NSPAN).The project is aimed at addressing the problem of malnutrition among Women of Reproductive Age (WRA) and children under 5 years of age in the six Local Government Areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Nutrition stakeholders were trained to effectively advocate for the implementation of NSPAN intervention policy document in the six area councils and secure local government chairmen, legislators and bureaucratic leaders’ commitment to appropriate, release, expend and monitor funds and personnel for the implementation of NSPAN in  FCT, Nigeria. National Strategic Plan of Action for Nutrition recognizes that direct nutrition interventions need to be coordinated at all levels of government - Federal, State, and Local Government - with complementary actions to address the underlying determinants of good nutrition: food security, health services, a healthy environment, and adequate care for the nutritionally vulnerable.
